A poem for the Oklahoma legislature
I'll never be remotely that good at poetry or even conveying emotion.
(via Pharyngula (though the idea of somehow giving the Pharyngula more traffic is amusing))

Gloss by David McCord
Concerning the missing positives.
Gloss
I know a little man both ept and ert.
An intro-? extro-? No, he's just a vert.
Sheveled and couth and kempt, pecunious, ane,
His image trudes upon the ceptive brain.
When life turns sipid and the mind is traught,
The spirit soars as I would sist it ought.
Chalantly then, like any gainly goof,
My digent self is sertive, choate, loof.

The Song of Wandering Aengus
by: W.B. Yeats
I WENT out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread;
And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout.
When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire a-flame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And some one called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.
Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.

Rainbows and Dust
Oh, God of dust and rainbows, help us see
That without dust the rainbow would not be.
by Langston Hughes
I'm a fan of Hughes' poems but this just seems completely confused. Rainbows are not effected by dust but rather water and the general diffusion of the atmosphere. You could have a dustless world with rainbows. There was once the belief that dust and water vapor in the air made the sky blue, although why it didn't change color during dry heats and wet heats never seemed to get addressed. It is actually because of the diffusion of the atmosphere itself (photons get pushed a bit by the EM of the atoms).

The Sceptic, by Robert Service
The Sceptic
My Father Christmas passed away
When I was barely seven.
At twenty-one, alack-a-day,
I lost my hope of heaven.
Yet not in either lies the curse:
The hell of it's because
I don't know which loss hurt the worse --
My God or Santa Claus.
My Father Christmas passed away
When I was barely seven.
At twenty-one, alack-a-day,
I lost my hope of heaven.
Yet not in either lies the curse:
The hell of it's because
I don't know which loss hurt the worse --
My God or Santa Claus.

Poetry: Langston Hughes
I, too, sing America.
I am the darker brother. They send me to eat in the kitchen When company comes. But I laugh, And eat well, And grow strong. Tomorrow I'll sit at the table When company comes Nobody'll dare Say to me, "Eat in the kitchen" Then.
Besides, they'll see how beautiful I am And be ashamed,--
I, too, am America.

Epistemology poem.
When faith's a virtue and doubt's a vice.
No reason or proof could ever suffice.
No common ground for reasoned debate.
Ghosts and Gods are the immutable fate.
Points ignored and arguments ducked.
Theists are epistemologically fucked.

Poem: The Nut
The light that breaks,
Emblues the sky.
while proteins change,
and sick things die.
The world is oval in its path,
and when we look upon the math.
It matters not, the fraction's small.
But, tilt the world, and leaves will fall.
What chance is there that we exist?
Reality unseen would still persist.
How rare it is, that we are here?
We are not a ball of ice!
But, that's not exactly good or nice.
Though, the world is not too hot.
How impossible that we are not?
A supermodel from Denmark,
plays dice with the world.
Refusing to tell:
Who won and who played.
The rules to be had,
or how it was made.
A universe is at our feet,
with a dozen suns for each heart beat.
A trillion miles is not that far,
Just a fraction of the distance to the next star.
An hour of a day long trip.
Impossible without a skip.
Emblues the sky.
while proteins change,
and sick things die.
The world is oval in its path,
and when we look upon the math.
It matters not, the fraction's small.
But, tilt the world, and leaves will fall.

Pwned? -- Turns out for a stupid idea...
There are a number of copies of Jabberwocky recited online.
Sadly, for as weird as it is, that's pretty good.
Hard to beat.
Beaten?

Jabberwocky
He's my recitation of Jabberwocky, because I got a new webcam and am kinda bored. Though it does actually look pretty good.
Gotta fix the sound, a bit of the video quality, oh and that face... ack.
