Mike Huckabee, the rubes are taking over the Republican Party.

How odd. The idea to bring the religious into the Republican party was a pretty easy one. If you want a ready group of voters who don't need evidence and are pretty much a ready made pot of buying whatever bullshit you offer, the religious right are a pretty obvious group. So don't use big words, give them a few kick backs, and pay lip service to God, and here and there change your foreign policy to fit with their end times mythos. However, the Republican party is in such complete disarray that they rubes are the most powerful group.



That's right, Huckabee is actually soring. He doesn't dress like a women, believe the native Americans are a lost tribe of Israelites, hug the person whose campaign accused of fathering a black baby, or get laughed off stage... Mike Huckabee, he's actually as crazy as he claims.

The point of the Republican Party is to have a party which, gives lots of money to the rich and keeps the troughs filled... they have to con a few rubes to do it, but the rubes are suppose to stay rubes.

There's little doubt that that quote is utter bizarre when we look at the Republican party of the day. There has been a rather odd switch in party loyalty over the years. The positions of Republicans like Lincoln and Douglass are now only found within the Democratic party and the traditional Democratic party positions are the staple of modern Republican party. It's a sad monument that the party of Lincoln died in the south. There had been a number of shifts over the 20th century and finally sealed the fate in 1963 with the Civil Rights Act, that's when the Democratic party lost the south, and in an odd twist took every position as the party of Lincoln.

House vote:

* Southern Democrats: 7-87 (7%-93%)
* Southern Republicans: 0-10 (0%-100%)

* Northern Democrats: 145-9 (94%-6%)
* Northern Republicans: 138-24 (85%-15%)

Over the next several years, the parties just flipped over. And in the 1994 slaughter-fest, the Democrats lost the south completely. And in 2006 the Republicans lost what bit of the NE they still had. Though, there are senators in Maine still and perhaps a straggler or two.

The supporters of the party of Lincoln would be the first to vote against Bush.

My position up until now has been to: Don't sink the leaky boats until they're in the race. Well, with this new possibility, I think there is a boat *SO* leaky that it needs to be in the race. It is for these reasons that God Snot (Where God's Not) is officially supporting Alan Keyes for the Republican Nomination.

Repubican Senator caught soliciting gay sex... but what's this I hear.

At first when I heard the Craig was convicted of soliciting an undercover officer for lewd acts in a public bathroom I thought par for the course.

The odd part of the story is this:

Does the gay community actually have lewd act bathroom stall tapping signals? Is there some secret gay code or something? It's not fascinating as some kind of social observations, I just love secret codes and I'm pissed that I don't know what they are.

Fine, keep your secret tap codes and your ability to put on matching clothing. I'll go learn the Mason's secret handshakes (which coincidentally were exactly borrowed by the Mormons at the Temple until a few years back when they got rid of them for exactly that reason).

Sen. Vitter (R) oppressed for his family values.

If continuing to believe in and acknowledge those values causes some to attack me because of my past failings, well, so be it.

In a press conference after revelations that he frequented prostitutes, Vitter (R) made what is perhaps the stupid comment ever. That his continued support for family values inspires the attacks against his character. Sure, he was into diaper fetishism but really it's that combined with his strong upright moral values which makes for the bluntness of the attacks. So, if he did what he did but didn't say what he says, he wouldn't be attacked as a hypocrite right now. So really, isn't he being attacked for voicing his strong moral standpoints?
