Tat's Trivia Bot v. 3.58

Tat's Trivia Bot 3.7

Update: Latest Tat's Trivia Bot 3.69

See latest blog and version 3.61
See latest blog link: 3.6

So Geocities shut down and my long dead drifting set of links to the files has likewise died out.

I have a semi-permanent site setup

http://tatarize.nfshost.com/

It should always have links to such my old scripts and various bits of information as to the on goings. It will presently link to MediaFire folder where I have the latest version of the trivia bot 3.58 as well as the question files and all of the old versions.

Again, if you find any bugs with the script I am still correcting those (though due to the lack of urgent reports I doubt there are many large ones). The bot is still free and open to edit and change in any way you see fit. Thanks to everybody who supported it over the years.

Let Them Eat Cake!

-- Tatarize you've neglected your blog for days.

Have a demotivator I made, they shall be happy.

-- Couldn't they just go to your flickr stream and look at them all.

No. I demand they trickle out and readers be impressed.

Wow. I'm the best debater ever.

Not really, but I'm apparently marginally good. I mentioned some of my Debate.com exploits and funbits here and there. Apparently they just updated the software to include a ranking system.

Hm. Ranking system.

http://godsnotwheregodsnot.blogspot.com/2009/11/tats-trivia-bot-v-358.html

A number of years ago as a fun project I programmed a mIRC trivia bot. I pretty well finished and let the product sit there for a long time and finally didn't care to renew my web hosting. Mostly because the webhost I used was kind of crappy and wanted something like $100 a year. For a site that I myself rarely visited that was a pretty tall order. So I let the site drop though, like all things, there are still some following for my old script. Did you know you can play Doom 2 online now? In the quake engine? Like I said, still followings for everything. Although, the parallel doesn't hold because my Trivia Bot is almost certainly the most feature rich on the market even though I haven't done anything with it for years now.

Why do I bring up this dreary story of my former niche fame as a mIRC coder?
-- Google.

When I google "Tat's Trivia Bot" it links to mIRC Scripts where my trivia addon has consistently been the top download for years. Let that be a lesson for some of the other script sites out there. Don't demand people host their own tiny scripts because when they stop caring and their websites go down... you don't get the script anymore because you don't have it.

In any event. I'm almost unfindable for Tat's Trivia Bot because, largely, I have one small reference to Tat's Trivia Bot off towards the side and that's not enough to drive traffic to my site if people search for My (Tat) Script (Trivia Bot). So on the offchance that I'm googled, I'd like to be found. Tat's Trivia Bot.

As for my scripts themselves, they can be easily downloaded:
http://www.geocities.com/tatarize/index.html

I believe Tat's Trivia Bot 3.56 is the latest version released. My own internal version refers to itself as 3.58 and includes about two minor bug fixes and a xmlbuild function (because what is a tiny mIRC script without the ability to output xml to be read by RSS feeds?).

In any event, my hope is that my blog, and moreover, this post will show up when people google my old work.

Comments about global warming.

The argument that because no other single theory hat explains the recent global temperature increase has found widespread accpetance in the scientific community means that anthropogenic global warming is true does not appear to follow scientific logical deduction to me.

The actual note isn't that no other single theory has found acceptance rather it's saying that there is global warming brought on by polluting the atmosphere with heat trapping gases which fully explains the warming being experienced, whereas no other alternative theories exist. The point isn't that other theories don't work therefore let's default to this. Rather greenhouse pollution explains the global warming and nothing else provides so much as a plausible mechanism.

All this appears to mean is that the mechanisms for global and regional climate change are poorly understood by our current science. Without arbitrary assumptions and deletions of significant but poorly understood factors of the climate, AGW does not come close to matching the data we do have.

To the contrary, the data fits amazingly well and if there's any shortcomings it's in predicting the secondary amplification effects. Our direst guesses have thus far been naive in underestimating the effects.

Scients are equally impaired in explaining past global climate changes other than the apparent general consensus that they were natural instead of anthropogenic. It appears that science just doesn't understand enough to be really sure what has caused any global climate changes either now or in the past.

Nothing about ignorance somewhere demands ignorance anywhere. By physics we know that CO2 is going to trap heat, we are releasing a massive amount crushing the previous records and putting it well above 300ppm. This should trap a large amount of heat. The entire planet is getting warmer. -- We have a simple easy to understand mechanism which fully explains what we are seeing and we have no other scientifically accepted theory which comes close. So, what should we conclude? One fully explains what we are seeing and nothing else does. Sure, there could be a something else, but doesn't that mean we're wrong on the basic physics part of greenhouse effect?

Previous heating events were way WAY slower. They were on the order of thousands of years rather than a decade, a decade we just happened to put massive amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere. Also, it's not like this science is newly minted, it's been well understood for decades.

A 1958 film on the question. 6 billion tons of Carbon Dioxide! -- I wish.

Who's at fault for my atheism?

"it's not my fault tatarize doesn't believe in God."

It's nobody's fault I don't believe in God. Fault isn't the right word as I'm quite happy as an atheist. I wasn't indoctrinated as a child and by the time I learned what religion was my brain was fully functional. Children will believe lies, even absurd lies. At a certain age, though, people will just laugh at silly things. I became an vociferous atheist ten seconds after I first learned about religion, eight seconds after I laughed.

Oooooh, I had a comment referenced.

I feel all famous and stuff.

Greta Christina cited a comment I made on Pharyngula about the Atheist's Wager and even referenced this site.

Here's how Tatarize (of God Snot, Where God's Not) put it in the Pharyngula comment: "Do good, then if there's a evil God everybody is still screwed. If there is a good God then you go to heaven, if there is no God then doing good is its own reward."
