So the Freedom From Religion Foundation put up an atheistic sign in the Washington Capitol after the Washington Capital had the silly policy of letting people put up religious displays.
Well, somebody stole it and gave it to a local radio station. The policy of putting up atheist displays where religious displays are put up is kind of entertaining. If it's just a public space, first come first serve, then it's acceptable to put up whatever holiday display you want. If the government themselves are putting the displays up, then it's a constitutional issue. Whenever the government puts up a public space it needs to be first come first serve for everybody and, as such, why not toss up a good secular display?
Apparently it pisses off the right and they steal your signs. Last year there was a "tree of knowledge" display put up in Philadelphia that got its fair share of abuse. On the main point of the issue there's some entertainment factor but the underlying idea that atheists should be excluded and that they are simply interlopers as that "public space" thing is just Christians getting around that pesky constitution and atheists aren't really invited to participate.
I'm sure the atheists stole their own damn sign. No Christian would do it because it would violate the 8th commandment. Clearly. But atheists hate God and just want to go around drawing pictures of fish, stealing things, and doing things on the sabbath.

Resymbolizing the theft of America's soul.
So the New Presidential Coins which are to feature the faces of all the dead presidents (which I think is just shenanigans to get Reagan on a coin) well, they put In God We Trust rather than on the coin itself on the side of the coin. Well no longer! The Christian right through Sen. Brownback managed to put the phrase from the side of the coin (where nobody looks) to the front where everybody tends to be. The Right was kind of pissed that it was moved.
So about the time the Christian right started to exert influence on the fairly secular government we're going to start having "In God We Trust" put onto those coins where we couldn't unnoticeable remove them with a small amount of grinding.
I thought that "In God We Trust" was suppose to be added due to ceremonial deism or respect for history or something like that. It certainly isn't an active claim to support a religious viewpoint through government machinery which would be a direct and clear violation of the Establishment Clause.
"The first four coins, honoring George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, were issued in 2007."
"Officials at the Mint say the dies for the 2008 coins, which honor James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren, have already been produced, so the change will not be visible until the 2009 series is produced."

200 solar crosses stolen.
Apparently a cemetery was robbed for about $8000 dollars worth of merchandise namely, 200 solar powered crosses. I am kind of disturbed by the idea of solar powered crosses. Sure, we can't manage to get death valley turned into a massive solar power plant but we can use photovoltaics to power up little symbols of a Roman torture device? What next? Are we going to use ground based radiotransmitters to beam the text of the Bible to outerspace? Are we going to use interferometric modulation to change the colors displayed on a Jesus statue to very effectively make him appear to bleed. Watches with built in GPS systems to track the current location and direction and calculate the direction of Mecca from any point on the planet? DNA scanner to detect the presence of pork in order to keep meals kosher?
I love how they describe the technology like a two year old, and as if it all just happens that way. Sunshine hits things, charges thing, and the crosses happen to illuminate...
Just freaky. Well, now I'm off to use Google Map's collection of satellite images to find Noah's ark.
The sunshine hits a solar cell and that charges a battery inside and at night the crosses are illuminated.
