Americans have an accent.

I'm really surprised.

Button. Cotton. Mountain. Bill Clinton. We Americans say buttn, cottn, mountn whereas other folks actually pronounce vowels between the 't' and the 'n'. Freaks.

We have a lazy 't'; there's no follow-through. It even makes some peoples' "winter" and "winner" or "planter" and "planner" sound the same. Or it becomes a 'd' in words like 'butter'. We do pronounce all of our 'r's though. Well, maybe except in New England.
